First and foremost, this comic literally left me feeling anxiety ridden. It was very enjoyable, and the way Venditti delivers, kept my mind racing as to “what’s going to happen!?”.
Issue thirty two starts off taking us twelve years into the future, where Captain Cold is on his deathbed. Tons of mystery is given as plenty of innuendos are talked about, but nothing to give us readers substantial information. The Flash shows up with a completely electrified suit and begins a very heartfelt conversation with our coma ridden Captain. Venditti then takes us back to present day where The Flash is doing his rounds and comes across a twisted scene (a pun that you’ll understand when you pick up the comic). He comes across a villain who seems to be The Merge but we quickly find out that he is an impostor. It turns out, this mystery man is the one creating loads of trouble around town, and Barry is happy to at least be putting that information together. Venditti again takes us back to the future, where the one sided conversation between Barry and Captain Cold have seemed to take a dark and saddening curve. This is the point where I’m left feeling like my chest might explode.
Venditti conjures up such great writing in this issue, that I’m left wondering what the hell is going to be happening to Barry, Wally, and this mystery villain! Let’s not forget about Booth and his talented artwork. I was enveloped in this comic so much with his detail to each character, their facial expressions, and the action!
Big applause to this issue. Needless to say, it’s one to add to any Flash fan’s collections!
