We The Nerdy’s Top 25 Xbox 360 Games
10. The Saboteur
Released: December 3, 2009
Developed by: Pandemic Studios
Published by: Electronic Arts
Voted Number One by John Newby
I chose The Saboteur as my favorite game for two main reasons. The first is that it combines my favorite parts from Grand Theft Auto, Assassin’s Creed, and Hogan’s Heroes and mixes them up into an explosive smoothie. You can climb buildings, assassinate Nazi soldiers, steal cars, and destroy anything that doesn’t support freedom. I find this game to be endlessly entertaining and I giggle in delight every time I blow up four Nazi watchtowers at the same time. The second reason The Saboteur is my favorite game on the Xbox 360 is a math problem. This open-world game takes maybe 20 hours to beat if you go through the story and do a few side missions; if you decide to be a crazy person, however, you will find that it takes 50 hours to steal every car, destroy every Nazi emplacement, and unlock every achievement. It’s a time sink that I have done twice so far, and yet I’m working on my third play-through right now.
Look, The Saboteur isn’t full of amazing quality but I can’t think of a single game that I enjoyed more during the Xbox 360’s lifespan.

9. Halo: ODST
Released: September 22, 2009
Developed by: Bungie
Published by: Microsoft Studios
Voted Number One by Jean-Luc Botbyl
Halo: ODST is unique amongst Halo games. The game builds its atmosphere in a truly wonderful manner, and the same is true of its characters. The narrative is exceptionally character-driven, and both the writing and voice cast take full advantage of this. As for the gameplay, well, it mostly feels like a Halo game but with a few tweaks. There’s a pseudo open world and an exploration side to Halo ODST, both of which blend with the more traditional elements of the game surprisingly well.
And, of course, this is the Halo game that added Firefight.

8. Mass Effect
Released: November 20, 2007
Developed by: BioWare
Published by: Microsoft Studios
Voted Number One by Henry Wong
As a huge fan of Knights of the Old Republic, I started Mass Effect with high hopes of a great story, amazing character development and some really innovative combat. I was completely surprised by how the game was all of that and more. This sci-fi ballad actually made my in-game choices feel like they mattered, as if I was a part of something much grander. And it was also one of a few games where I actually felt a deep personal connection with the characters. Especially with my Shepard. The game set a precedent that was found throughout the Mass Effect universe. But as the one that began it all, it remains in my heart as the best of all BioWare and even of all Xbox 360 games.
