Keeley Hawes will Guest star in the new episodes of DR Who. The upstairs down stars actress will play as Ms Delphox “a powerful out of this world character with a dark secret”. The story, written by Steve Thompson, sees the twelfth Doctor and his companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), meet Ms Delphox when they arrive “on a strange and puzzling planet”.
Who is she?
Keeeley Hawes is a London actress most notably for her current Line of Duty series. She is not just some one trick pony having a multitude of awards 4 nominations in fact. Having voiced Laura Croft for multiple games she is nothing new to having a strong voice, having no shortcomings when comes to making a mark in the world in her portrayal of Alex Drake in Ashes too ashes she earned a best UK Television Actress Award in 2008 by the Glamour Awards and her current appearance on Line of Duty has earned her major praise for her portrayal of Lindsey Denton.
“I am delighted to join DR Who and to be working with this incredible team, Ms Delphox is a great character and someone I’ve had a lot of fun playing” Keeley Hawes
Why does This matter?
With the up and coming Dr. Who: Season 8 coming around there has been a lot of speculation as too who the big bad is and the overall vibe of the season. This new information of Keeley being cast can bring us hope of a great villainess.
The Reason why I bring these two portrayals into thought is for what they represent. As brought up by BBC Ms Delphox’s character will be a banker and more than that she she is going to play a important role in the series. Steven Moffat Added. “Anyone watching Jed Mercurio’s amazing Line of Duty will know that Keeley Hawes is having one hell of year. And now it’s about to get even better as she achieves the greatest villainy yet attempted on Doctor Who: she plays a banker”.
(Keeley Hawes as Ms Delphox in Doctor Who: Season 8)
The characters Ms Hawes has played in each of these series are a detective or cop a role of authority . With each portayl Showing her talents better than the next. Though we don’t have a real understanding of her character in the series we don know that” The episode is directed by Douglas Mackinnon, whose previous work includes Line of Duty and Doctor Who”, With this type of synergy in play there is alot to root for and nothing to hold against this casting.
What are your thoughts? Will this be a flop like or will her newfound greatness continue in the character of Ms. Delphox with the another cult following that is Doctor Who?
