Continuing from the Superman/Wonder Woman Annual #1 we find ourselves in the final chapter of SuperDoom, and this really was another exciting read.

It really was exciting for the most part and this was because it bounced around from one story strand to the next very often. This is also the downside of this book because there was never really any chance to focus on one particular character or one part of the story for any significant length of time.

As with Soule’s Superman/Wonder Woman, we have in this issue a culmination of the 3 books storylines which make up this event and Pak does just as well with handling the Lois/Brainiac story even though, as with Soule, it does not usually feature in Action Comics. Pak does really well in the Lois and Clark relationship ‘faith’ part of the issue and it is written so differently from the Lana and Clark relationship we are so used to reading from Pak. He really creates a fantastic tone between the two characters and I really think it would be great if he can incorporate Lois into Action after this event.

Going back to the issue at hand, there really were some great moments from Superman. His shear strength of will to try and fight off SuperDoom and help fight Brainiac, in Gotham for example, is a true testament to the character and one which has rarely been seen in The New 52. Unfortunately, the plan that was originally used to stop Superman from coming back to Earth a few issues ago seems to backfired but don’t worry as Batman has a different plan. What this plan reveals is that in fact SuperDoom and the Brainiac virus were just the beginning of what is to come and it all leads to one incredible final splash page.

Overall, Pak, just like Soule, does a great job of managing the huge roster of characters that are on display in this part of the event. Not only was it written well, but despite the fact that the Art was covered by a huge amount of people, it looked pretty good. This was another issue that progressed this epic story well and concluding the issue on a horrific cliffhanger really makes the reader want to read the next part. Luckily, the next part was also released this week so no waiting time, yay!
