Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson started the Image Expo off with a bang by announcing that many of Image’s creators would be releasing new series. The announcement included 12 new comics from many of Image’s top creators.
Rick Remender, the creator of Black Science, Deadly Class, and Low, will be working on a fourth series called Tokyo Ghost with Sean Murphy and Matt Hollingsworth. His description compared it to Judge Dredd, only with a focus on modern technology obsessions.
Marian Churchland, Claire Gibson, and Sloane Leong announced that they would be working together on a series called From Under Mountains, a fantasy story about a nobleman’s daughter, a disgraced knight, and a street thief who cross paths on a lonely island. This series is due Spring 2015.
Joe Casey announced that he would be creating a new series with Paul Maybury called Valhalla Mad. The series focuses on gods who return to earth with unfortunate circumstances. The series will be available early 2015.
John Arcudi and James Harren announced a series called Rumble that would be premiering in December 2014. They didn’t provide any information about the series’ plot.
Ray Fawkes announced that he would be writing and painting a Twin Peaks-esque story called Intersect.
Tom Neely and Keenan Marshall Keller announced that they would be creating a series about outlaw bikers called Humans. No release date was given.
Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko, the fantastic team behind Star Wars Legacy, announced a new series about a man who steals a puppy. This series is called Kinski, and it will be released in November. In addition, they announced a new series called Invisible Republic, which is a sci-fi story about a ruler’s rise to power.
Becky Cloonan and Andy Belanger announced a sci-fi comic called Southern Cross that focuses on a women travelling to Saturn after her sister dies.
Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen announced that they would be creating Descender, a story focused on a boy robot who is running from a universe that hates both humans and robots.Nguyen will be water-color painting the entire series.
Ivan Brandon and Nic Klein announced that they would be releasing Drifter, a story about the dirtier side of the future. The story focuses on the workers who build the dirty future, and it will be released in November.
Kurt Busiek and Ben Dewey announced that they would be releasing a high-fantasy series called Tooth and Claw. The story would focus on animal people who travel back in time to find the person that introduced magic into the world.
Finally, artist Declan Shalvey will be working with Warren Ellis and colorist Jordie Bellaire on a series called Injection. This series focuses on a group of people intent on making the world more loud and exciting, but their plan goes horribly wrong.
