Pros
- Very little lag when streaming current gen games to a PC.
- GREAT entry level capture card for video capture and streaming.
- Easy to set up.
- Near universal compatibility so long as the device has a HDMI
Cons
- Color range isn’t the best on new consoles.
- Genki Arcade app can be hit or miss.
- If tying to use with something like OBS an extra HDMI splitter is needed which can be annoying.
In Summary
The Genki Shadowcast is a great entry-level video capture device for new streamers or content creators that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Using it for a “second screen” to play games on your PC monitor may work for some, but I don’t see that being the main selling point for people interested in using it. I love this product so much I am purchasing a second Shadowcast for my children who want to start creating content as well, along with using it for my primary video capture card for streaming on twitch.tv/we_the_nerdy. If you’re to content creation for gaming or video in general, this is a must-have.
