Quick Time Review: Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 (PS4/PS5)

Pros

  • The overall look of the headsets look cleaner and less “plasticy and toy like” than the Gen 1s.
  • Audio quality is AMAZING even with superhuman audio disabled.
  • Cooling gel infused headset cushions feel incredible and never irritate your ears and creates a great audio isolation from external noises without the need of active noise cancelling.
  • Bluetooth enabled headset allows for an additional audio source which is something no other headset provides at that price range.
  • Mic that flips into the left headset allows the form factor to remain intact and lets the headset be utilized for everyday use without looking like a gaming headset.
  • Smaller USB dongle without the need of a optical cable connection is a great change.
  • Even after wearing the headset for 8+ hours it never became uncomfortable and the battery lasted nearly all day without needing a charge.
  • Battery level indicated by voice prompt as you turn on the headset is a great feature that needs to be implemented in other devices.

Cons

  • Less features than Gen 1s (active noise cancelling and firmware updates via phone app)
  • Syncing issues with PS5 (would need to restart the PS5 and the 700s to get audio to sync, this only happened a handful of times but was still annoying).
  • No cross platform capability with Xbox (PC does work though).
  • Headband may be too small for larger heads.

In Summary

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2s have become my daily use headsets for my PS5 replacing the Astro A50s i was using previously. For $150 these are the BEST headsets to get for the PS5 if you’re not looking to spend more than $200 for a headset that has many of the same features as these but for a much higher price with worse audio quality. If you’re on the market for a new pair and want a high quality product look no further than these.
