Another popular Sony franchise will be getting the silver screen treatment. Sly Cooper will be stepping out of the 2D world and into 3D in 2016 along with his childhood friends and partners in crime, Bentley and Murray. The film is being animated by Rainmaker Entertainment and produced by Blockade Entertainment, the same companies that are behind next year’s Ratchet and Clank movie. Check out the teaser above:
Now that with this being our third film, we are showing the path we intend to take with these game franchises as a whole. Ultimately, respecting the property and what fans love the most about them.
While this film will not necessarily tell Sly’s origin, it will show the group in their early days of thieving. Fans of the popular PS2 series will be happy to know that producer and CEO of Blockade Entertainment has said “We are working very closely with both Sony and Sucker Punch to make sure we are staying true to the franchise.” In addition to staying true to the game’s story, the film will also feature returning voice actors from the series as well as “a mix between those actors from the game, and various other talent who we can have fun with bringing into the franchise.”
No word yet from Sony or Sucker Punch on whether this film will coincide with the next Sly Cooper game. We The Nerdy will continue to report as more information is revealed.
