The Comic Wish List: 20th August 2014

Welcome to the eleventh instalment of the new weekly feature bringing you comic book previews on what we are looking forward to each and every week. Sorry about the lack of previews from last week, but we are back and ready to give you an idea of what we think you should be getting this week.

The general rule will be that we will pick one indie, one DC and one Marvel and if merited an honorable mention (or two).

So if you are deciding how to spend your money this week on New Comic Book Day, don’t worry, we got you covered!! Here are a handful we think you should pick up!

Have your say in the comments if you want to add your own thoughts! And be part of the WTN community by following us on Twitter @WeTheNerdy and by joining the new We The Nerdy Fan Facebook Group

MULTIV-Cv1-c3d96The Multiversity #1

Written by: Grant Morrison

Art by: Ivan Reis & Joe Prado

Its finally here, not only the return of Grant Morrison to DC but also a book which has been talked about and teased for what seems like forever. I personally love seeing alternative universes, and who better than to provide this than Morrison who has his own unique way of writing and delivering a classic and superb story. Although, due to the length of time this has taken to come to market there has been a similar story over at Marvel with Jonathan Hickman’s New Avengers run, I can wait to see how this is going to play out as I am sure it is going to be filled with the usual craziness!

NEWAVN2013023-DC11-c6479New Avengers #23

Written by: Jonathan Hickman

Art by: Kev Walker

Wow, how good was the last issue? Out of Hickman’s two Avengers books this has to be my favourite, and it just seems to be getting better and better. After the events of the last issue and the incredible emotional page turner it was we pick up right after with a broken Illuminati. Where do they go from here?  I have no idea, but I trust Hickman does, and wherever it is I am sure an incursion will have something to do with it. Do yourself a favour and go catch up on this great series.

FadeOut-cov-7ece9The Fade Out #1

Written by: Ed Brubaker

Art by: Sean Phillips

Publisher: Image

Brubaker & Phillips return to Image, well when I say return, they did just finish their Fatale run like last month, so really I mean, here they are with a new book. I don’t even have to tell you the plot for you to get excited about this book though because of the great team that it has on it, but just to clue you in, it’s 1948 Hollywood and there has been a murder… I’ve read this already and this looks like a great noir murder mystery in the making. If you are a fan of the creative team then you can definitely not afford to miss out.

Which books are you looking forward to this Wednesday, let us know in the comments, on Twitter @WeTheNerdy or the new We The Nerdy Fan Facebook Group
