After giving it some careful thought, Wayward is my favorite comic ongoing comic series right now. I’ve described it in the past as American Gods in Japan, and issue after issue only cements how true that is and how awesome of a combination that is. I love literally every character in the story, I love the setting, I love the stunning artwork, I love the use of Japanese lore, I love the rising escalation, and I love how everything has consequences.
I feel like I could go on for pages on why I enjoy this series, yet I also feel like I don’t need to. It really just has great everything.
Jim Zub and Steve Cummings have created something truly special here, and I really hope it’s getting the attention it deserves.
