The Fullbright Company has announced that Gone Home, their 20134 masterpiece, will be headed to consoles this year.
However, they are at this point unsure as to which consoles it will come to. Co-founder Steve Gaynor said that this is because It’s [about], ‘How can we make it the best version you could possibly play on the hardware you’ve got on your living room?'” He also said that “We [The Fullbright Company] designed Gone Home from the beginning to be a couch experience.”
The indie game developer has partnered with the publisher Midnight City to release the game on consoles. Midnight City has worked to release games like The Bridge and Slender on consoles and PC. Gaynor also said that this partnership allows them time to work on their next project.
We are not working on a sequel. We’re currently doing very early days on what our next game is. I can say it won’t be Gone Home 2, but I can also say it’ll be us continuing to explore the kind of interactive experiences we started with Gone Home. And then seeing what our next step is, so we don’t repeat ourselves.”
Using very imprecise terminology, Gaynor has both confirmed and denied that a sequel is in development. It is unclear what their next project is exactly, but it will definitely be something decidedly different from Gone Home.
