Prometheus: Fire and Stone #3 Review

Written by: Paul Tobin

Things never just go from bad to worse when dealing with the Alien franchise. No, things in the Alien franchise ease into bad, sprint into worse, and then accidentally fall into varying levels of horrific. We’ve seen this again and again, and in the case of Prometheus: Fire and Stone, Issue 3 is when everything turns horrific.

Oh and is it a joy to behold!

Elden was injected with the Engineer’s black goo last issue and is now mutating rapidly, and watching him fall apart is a nice metaphor for the human’s attempt at survival. As it turns out, there are more than a few Xenomorphs on LV223. No, there’s an army of them.

There’s also an actual Engineer walking around now, doing God knows what. We see him collecting Xenomorphs, and I really, really want to know why.

The salvage crew is splintered, with half on board the ship and the other half looking for Francis and Elden. When they find the ship overrun with aliens, they split again, sending Galgo off to his own ship to provide support.

Storywise, it makes perfect sense for everyone to split up (unlike most horror stories (or Scooby Doo), but we all know what happens when the group splits up. I typed that with a smile, by the way. I predict the climax of P:FaS to be a bloodbath of the best kind.

On the character front, Galgo is a strong standout. I really like him. He’s the perfect kind of mercenary, mostly cocky, but also good at what he does. He holds a lot of personality, both in his actions and in his jokes, and it’s no wonder that he’s a lead character in Predator: Fire and Stone. I like him, even when he isn’t being ethical.

As I look at P:FaS Issue 3, I can’t help but wonder which Fire and Stone miniseries has the best art. It’s hard to tell, as each has its own style, and each style is executed near flawlessly. I believe Juan Ferreyra does the Xenomorphs the best though, at least in terms of detail. They look spectacular.

I got nothin’ bad to say about this one folks. If you’ve been following this, then you’re in for a treat. P:FaS Issue 3 is great.
