Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered includes the games The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and Angel of Darkness. While featuring updated graphics and modern controls, the collection is a flawed one, and may frustrate many rather than making it a joy to revisit these titles. Various issues abound on the Xbox Series S (where I reviewed this) including imprecise controls, audio issues, and dark visuals. Those with plenty of patience may find some joy here, as it can take some time to get a handle on the controls, but many may also simply just walk away frustrated and disappointed.

PROS
Stories are solid, showing off a darker side to Lara
Ability to switch between original and new graphics
Choice between original controls and modern ones
Photo mode
CONS
New visuals dark, can make it hard in spots to see where to go
Audio issues (especially on Chronicles )
Imprecise controls
Odd quick save system
Need to completely leave game to switch between titles

In all, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is both frustrating and disappointing. While the newer visuals are crisper, they noticeably make the screen darker, making it hard in spots to see where to go next. It is easy to switch back to original visuals, but having to do it at all makes it more of a chore to play. Speaking of chores, the imprecise controls are frustrating, especially the jumps. A lot of patience is required to get a handle on the controls, and some may just give up all together. Add in some audio issues (most noticeable on Chronicles ), and this collection falls short in presenting these titles to modern audiences. Unless you’re a die hard Tomb Raider fan and need every title in the franchise, this is best to wait for a sale for.
